The Air Force has ordered inspections of its facilities for public displays of pornographic or misogynistic materials after complaints from female personnel. The order from the Air Force chief of staff, Gen. Mark Welsh, follows a report in The New York Times about the case of a technical sergeant, Jennifer Smith, who has served in the Air Force for 17 years. She filed a complaint with the service saying that she had been the victim of sexual assault and harassment, and that she had also been forced to endure a hostile work environment because of widespread and open displays of graphic materials that were demeaning toward women.
